2nd day of semester
So far so good! The 8:30 class I had this morning was pretty interesting in that the prof showed us a movie about cheating. "What's more important, honor or grades?" That brought up a few good questions. While most of the show was presented in a highschool, the last part took place in an Ivy League college. That truly is the question! What's more important? Grades or integrity? In most instances I'd say grades. I know this isn't the answer anyone wants to hear but it's true in today's world. Whether you're going into college or the work place, you either need grades or a diploma. If you want to get into a good college you must have exceptional grades! If you want to get into a good job you have to pass your classes. What do both scenarios have in common? Grades. Schools don't care that because you have integrity or honor you got an F or a D. Jobs don't care that the reason you don't have a diploma is because you refused to cheat. How can schools crack down on cheating and plagarism when the very reason students cheat is for the grade that the school system uses in the first place?!?! From what I hear, back a long time ago school was fun. Teachers made teaching with less pressure on grades and increased the fun in actually learning! Until you give students a reason not to cheat, reduce the pressure to get the right grade, cheating will continue and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
Peace
